Cynical Smith got her start in community radio during the late nineties. She started her own radio show “Ear To The Ground’s Hip-Hop Countdown”. Her passion for hip-hop was clearly reflected by the show’s original playlist. That show caught the ear and attention of DJ Evil Dee. When DJ Evil Dee started Beatminerz Radio on 88 Hip Hop he recruited Cynical and their partnership was officially started. At the dawn of the Internet revolution, they pushed the envelope even further by including a live video streaming element. The audience could watch the DJ spinning and interact with the hosts during the show. Their innovative ideas forever changed the landscape of Internet Radio and cemented their places in Hip Hop history.
When 88 Hip Hop and The Pseudo Online Network ended Cynical got into the world of film making she started creating documentaries through her partnership with General Steele of the classic rap group, Smif-N-Wessun. They formed Bucktown USA, a record label, film and video production company.
Currently Cyn is producing a web series "For Colored Boys" alongside award winning director Stacey Muhammad. She also continues to follow her dreams of radio station ownership with the rebranding of Beatminerz Radio.
Catch her every Wednesday on “Cyn City” 3-5pm
